Victims and their families can suffer emotional, financial and physical pain as a result of crime. Crossroads Family Services, the Plano Police Department, and the State of Texas' Attorney General's Office work cooperatively to help victims and their families recover from the effects of crime.
We can provide:
- Assistance in obtaining financial aid through Crime Victims' Compensation (CVC)
- Crisis management
- Ongoing emotional support
- Guidance through the criminal justice system
- Referral to professional counseling
- Referral to social service agencies
- Court accompaniment under special circumstances
Victims' Assistance is provided free of charge and includes education regarding abuse, violence and safety.
Who May Qualify for Victims' Assistance
- Any resident of Plano or victim of a serious crime in Collin County
- An innocent victim of crime who suffers physical and/or emotional harm
- An authorized individual acting on behalf of the victim
- A dependent of the victim
- Immediate family members or household members related by blood or marriage who require psychiatric care or counseling as a result of crime
- An intervener who goes to the aid of the victim or a peace officer
- A peace officer, fire fighter, or individual whose employment includes the duty of protecting the public
